Aquaculture is the fastest-growing agricultural activity in the world according to the United Nations (www.fao.org) and fish represent the most produced animal protein on the planet. 

However, about 550 aquatic species are currently farmed and shrimp, seaweed, algae and even pearls are part of the aquaculture industry. 

Each year hundreds of millions of dollars are being invested into this industry.
